My former co-worker shares his insights on this years InfoComm AV Conference

That being said I thought I would share just a few of more exciting and promising things I saw at the show:

Lampless projectors ???

  • What are they?
    • Projectors that uses light emitting diodes (LED???s),  lasers or both as the light engine as opposed the traditional mercury vapor lamps.
    • Why is this important?
      • These projectors don???t have expensive lamps to replace and have estimated life of around 20,000 hours.  This means the changing bulbs every 1000 hours so at around $500.00 a piece won???t be necessary, not to mention the cost of stocking and actually taking down the unit to change the bulb.
      • This technology also promises to reduce the energy consumption of the traditional light engine by up to 90% which helps in the never ending quest for green facilities.
